FirstBank Southwest sponsored the Devers-Kile Cattle Dog Trial Open Champion buckle that was awarded by Roy Devers to Rita Shin of Quinlin, Tx and her dog, Quik.

Beautiful weather and tough dogs topped off the 11th Annual Devers-Kile Cattle Dog Trials held in Booker, Tx by event coordinators Roy Devers and Bobby Kile. Handlers from Kansas, New Mexico, Oklahoma and even the far ends of Texas came for the two day event. Heralded as one the top stockdog trials in the southwest due to quality cattle and big open courses, professional and novice handlers seek out the Texas panhandle to vy for the custom trophy buckles and prize money, as well as, coveted points in the WTSDA and USBCHA to qualify for the National Finals. Spectators enjoyed viewing cattle working action, homemade refreshments throughout the day and free admission. At the conclusion of the Saturday competition, Money's Steakhouse hosted the Handler's social.
On Sunday, competition concluded with
champions being announced. In the Pro Novice class, Scott Tolbert and Kate narrowly held off Roy Devers and Bubba by 3/100ths of a second on Saturday but a clean run Sunday secured the average win and buckle. Bryce Peterson and Chet, Portales, NM showed consistent 4 minute runs on the reduced course for the Novice class to win the event and average taking home the buckle.
